Four Things to Think about this Fourth of July

July 1, 2015

Fourth of July is our country’s most important holiday. It is often spent with family and friends in backyards enjoying the freedom that living in America affords. As the grills begin to cool off and the fireworks start to boom, here are four things you should think about this holiday.

  • Is your homeowners insurance up-to-date? A rogue bottle rocket can do a lot of damage to a home. If your coverage is up-to-date in the unlikely event of a fire, your home, yard and guests will be taken care of.
  • Are you prepared for fireworks? To minimize the potential damage that fountain can cause, make sure you’ve got a bucket of water handy, are present when children are lighting off fireworks and have purchased legal fireworks.
  • Are your dogs safe and secure? Animals, dogs in particular, can become very afraid of the booming light display. Make sure they’re in a place they feel comfortable and don’t have many things to destroy if they get scared, like your couch or mattress. Check on them frequently, and reinforce their good behavior.
  • Is your grill safe to operate? Grills are the best part about the Fourth of July. Cooking burgers and hot dogs outside with friends is the best way to celebrate our nation’s independence. But if your grill is faulty or too easy for children to get you, you could be dealing with another situation entirely.

We hope that your 4 th is fun and safe this year! Take advantage of this time with your family and friends and really celebrate the freedoms we all enjoy. From all of us at Wayne Anthony Insurance, Happy Fourth of July!
